This directory contains about 275 tartans in GIF format.  I used some of them
to create a pleasing root window in X-Windows, by calling

	xv -root -quit XXX.gif

which tiles the root window and returns.  You can peruse them with xv *.gif .

LIMITATIONS
Some of the colours are not very good (nor are they very well standardized).
The blue on my workstation is somewhat purplish, which makes it hard to
judge the gifs.
